The Values of Community and Democracy

Summer parade season has come and gone, but the weekends of August have been full of community gatherings all around King County. At the annual picnics for the 1st and 45th Legislative District Democrats we were encouraged by the excitement and commitment to volunteerism that can make make our democracy thrive. In every conversation we were reminded that government should reflect the hard work and dedication to the democratic process that is put in by citizens in every corner of King County.

In 1994 Zack traveled to Ukraine to work with the National Democratic Institute in Kiev, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk to help local governments implement the tools of democracy. This weekend was Ukranian Independence Day and the celebration at Cedar River Park was a strong reminder that our shared democratic values require diligent protection and commitment. It is important to remember how fortunate we are to resolve our differences at the ballot box first and last.

With September just around the bend the campaign will be ramping up with phone banks and events every single week, so please remember to sign up to volunteer! Thanks for your continued support!
