Tukwila-State House Government Oversight Chair Zack Hudgins (D-Tukwila) announced his campaign today for King County Elections Director.
“I work every day at the state level to make government work better for taxpayers. I’m ready to build on the success of the King County Elections office to ensure integrity, fairness and transparency as the next Director,” said Zack Hudgins.
Zack Hudgins has been a State Representative for 13 years. Zack Hudgins started his career in the private sector in the early years of Amazon.com and continued in the high technology field at Microsoft. Zack was one of the founding board members of the Puget Sound Fisher House which gives families of veterans a place to stay as their loved ones recuperate at the Veteran’s Hospital on Beacon Hill.
Hudgins served as an international elections and governance expert during the Iraq war for the National Democratic Institute. While living outside the Green Zone in Baghdad, he instructed both the Interim Iraqi National Parliament and Iraqi citizens on elections, budgeting and the process of democracy in preparation for their first historic vote.
Zack Hudgins has been the Chair of the General Government and Information Technology Committee in the State House of Representatives during the last five years, overseeing nearly 70 state agencies including the Public Disclosure Commission.
“I want to hear your ideas about how we get more people engaged in the democratic process. I’m excited to work on innovative ways we can increase voter participation throughout the county.” added Hudgins
